The Power of Gratitude - I AM Grateful Challenge

The first month of Workshop In A Box has been a MAGICAL experience filled with inspiration from world-class business and life coaches. Before you can start killing it behind the chair, it's important to get your mind in the right frame for success. That is why almost the entire first month of Workshop In A Box is all about re-programing our brains to see opportunity, abundance, light, and positivity - EVEN when things are not perfect.

One of the principles we touch on in a specific video is the power of gratitude. This list from a Huffington Post article shows many of the benefits of having a mindset based in gratitude.

  • Improved physical, emotional, and social well-being
  • Greater optimism and happiness
  • Improved feelings of connection in times of loss or crises
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Heightened energy levels
  • Strengthened heart, immune system, and decreased blood pressure
  • Improved emotional and academic intelligence
  • Expanded capacity for forgiveness
  • Decreased stress, anxiety, depression, and headaches
  • Improved self-care and greater likelihood to exercise
  • Heightened spirituality — ability to see something bigger than ourselves

From personal experience, I KNOW how powerful changing your mindset can be. That is why I'm challenging all the current stylists in Workshop In A Box and everyone reading this post to take part in the #iamgrateful challenge with me for the next 30 days!

The challenge has a month-long challenge, supplemented with weekly challenges listed below:

The Monthly Challenge: Gratitude Journals

  1. Find a simple journal or notebook (you can even use the notes app in your phone, but it’s better if you can physically write this down).

  2. Today through September 6th, pay attention to the things, events and people you are grateful for. Every day, write down at least one thing you noticed and are grateful for.

  3. See how having a grateful mindset and physically writing down these things improves your life!

  4. Share! Throughout the month use #iamgrateful to share your stories and breakthroughs on social media.

Week One Challenge: Client Gratitude

For week one of the #iamgrateful challenge, I challenge you to tell EACH CLIENT that sits in your chair something about them you are grateful for and see how it changes the appointment and your work day!

  1. Make it sincere! It could be anything from, “I’m so grateful I have you as a client, you are so inspiring!” to “You have such great style, I’m lucky to have you sitting in my chair.”
  2. Pay attention to how radiating your grateful mindset changes the interaction with your client and improves your day!
  3. Throughout the week, share how this challenge is influencing your business with the group and on your social media using #iamgrateful.
  4. I can’t wait to hear all of the awesome stories you’re sure to have during this challenge!

Week Two Challenge: Grateful Shout-out

Week two of the #iamgrateful challenge is ALL about expressing gratitude to a specific person in your life! This can be a partner, a coworker, a family member, whoever. Who in your life are you grateful for, and who needs to hear some kind words? This week is an excellent opportunity to spread the love & good vibes!

  1. Choose someone in your life who deserves a heartfelt expression of gratitude from you.
  2. Write a note listing the reasons you are grateful for them.
  3. Either tag them with your message publicly on social media or if you're more comfortable sharing it privately, then do that.
  4. If you want to share with the group, screenshot your gratitude post and add it to this Facebook post!

I'm so excited to see all the love that is spread around this week!

OUT with the Money Cycle- IN with the MONEY $$ PATTERN

Money Pattern Examples 2.png

So if you have attended our workshops you know how amazing this pattern is. I am going to touch on today the Money Pattern with hair and in LIFE.

We believe so much in our systems and patterns that I have struggled with not being able to teach it all, give it all and show you all that I and my team can. So after over a year of hard work we created WORKSHOP In a BOX. This is an educational subscription coaching program. This coaching program I am so passionate about because I know how it is going to change stylist life's behind the chair.

You may not know this but I have spent tens of thousands since 2014 on business coaches, social media coaches, mentors, therapist, life coaches and education. They have literally changed my life and been the best money I have ever ever spent. Mind you it was money I did not always have, but I knew investing in my business was the best place to put my money.

I read a quote that said, "STOP saving your money for a rainy day and start spending it on things that WILL make you money!"

Scary thought?? But so true.

My coaches are still dear friends of mine and I still work closely with them. I have learned the value of investing into my business. I want to share some of the best advice I was ever given was from one of my coaches years and years ago when I launched my first e-course (which you probably haven't heard about because it was NOT a success.) hahaha

She said to me,  "Elizabeth Faye, until you let go of your bullshit story and stop clinging to fear you will never have more. You will never get more LOVE, more SUCCESS, more MONEY or more HAPPINESS. You are holding onto the love, money, things and happiness you have for dear life because you are terrified you will never get more. "

I was in the middle of a marriage that was being held together by shitty strings of hope and I was (at least I thought I was...) in the best position I had ever been in. I grew up in an unstable home, living with different families, broken down cars and hand-me-down clothing. So at this point I was driving a Kia, had a town home , a few grand in the bank, a baby, a husband and a job that was paying the bills. I wasn't thriving or happy but hey I was surviving and by all means it sounded good on paper. I was in a very unhealthy relationship and had worked really hard to get to this point in my life.

The thought of letting go my family unit, the stability of having a husband, a car that had AC and was safe to drive, a roof over my head that was cute and clean and the stability of a warm body in the same bed as me at night was FUCKING terrifying. Who would help me change my tire? Could I pay my own bills? Who would pick my son up from daycare? I'll never be able to buy a home or car. I can't go backwards again...I CAN'T I CAN'T. Who would date me???? How the hell do I even go on a date again?

As soon as I started functioning in an ABUNDANCE mind frame and stop focusing on my fears it was like magic. I was able to pay for my town home, I was able to use my skills to get MORE clients in the chair, I was able to attract PEACE & the people I needed in my life, I was able to MAKE back the MONEY I needed to spend to be a working single mom. It worked the fuck out!

Fast forward to today, I have continued to function in this mind set. The money, the time and the peace of mind are not always available but I have learned when there is a WILL there is ALWAYS a WAY.

A L W A Y S.

Believe me I have good friends I cry on their shoulders, moments of WTF am I doing, OMG this if terrifying and amazing coaches and a support team to lift me up.

SUPPORT team is your life line in GROWTH my friends.

Get out of the negative Money cycle of fear and not enough and get in the MONEY PATTERN that there will always be enough to go around, you are deserving of wealth and abundance, you are amazing and you surround yourself with awesomeness.

Take a leap , invest in you. You deserve all the badassness the world has to offer.

Excuse my realness but I believe in sharing the shit that has shaped us and that's what can help others shape their business and dream life.

Registration is fully open for the next few months for our year long color, business, social and life coaching program. All of the human beings who shape my life will be interviewed and making appearances along with a community of boss babes & bros who have your back, my team too of course && more hair color education than you could dream of!

For the price of one service a month you could revolutionize the way you function behind the chair. I would love to see you in the Box. Our whole community is waiting for you with open arms.

It has been a dream of mine to work NYFW since beauty school and I was lucky enough this last season to work the event with my Redken family and Cutler Salon. I wanted to share a sneak peek into the event and show you some of this years upcoming looks for spring.

Everything was very organic, a bit messy and really simple easy styles (as far as hair and makeup goes).

We started the event with Bloggers and then I worked a few days of shows. Check it out

I will be posting a second post about the actual shows and a video. Comment your questions below & I can answer them!!

Why I Decided to Stop Hating & Start Loving my Body Type

Why I Decided to Stop Hating & Start Loving my Body Type

Being a big girl is TOUGH stuff. You feel the need need to be sexy, beautiful, womanly, motherly, professional, wifely, modest ...blah blah blah...and accepted in the eyes of society. You must be age appropriate, and sexually attractive...but not to sexual because your over 30...or a mom...or a professional...but you can't be too mom-frumpy because that's not beautiful either ...YUCK. Not to mention BODY IMAGE! I would dare to say most women have struggled with being in love with their own body image and own image from the age of 12 on...Ladies isn't it FUCKING time we start learning to love every inch of our imperfectly perfect bodies?

Portland Travel Guide/Journal

Portland Travel Guide/Journal

If you don't already love Portland than you NEED to take a long weekend and GO. Like now.

So I taught in Portland a couple months ago. It was my second time back this year to teach and my first time going when it was rainy. Seems weird, right? Last time I went in Spring & it was perfection, I hear summer is a must as well. It seemed fitting to be in Portland in the rain though. First thing my assistant and I noticed of course was the green, but was the leaves turning. Being a born and raised desert rat I am not familiar with what REAL seasons look like. Our very depressed but interesting uber drive informed us that , "This is not fall yet." but to us we were in awe of the color.
